Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about posting, buying, transfers, passports, and staying safe on PetCenter.pk.

Buying & browsing

How do I post an ad?
Create a free account, click Post Ad, and fill in your pet's details — species, breed, age, photos, price, and city. Every listing gets a free digital passport with a QR code that stays with the pet for life.
Is PetCenter free to use?
Yes. Browsing, posting ads, and using the digital passport are completely free for everyone. There are no platform fees, no commissions, and no hidden charges — you and the buyer or seller arrange payment directly over WhatsApp.
How do I contact a seller?
On any pet listing, tap the WhatsApp button to start a conversation directly with the seller. You can also call them using the phone number on their profile. We do not put a middleman between you — your conversation is yours.
How can I tell which sellers are trustworthy?
Look for the green "Verified Seller" badge on the listing or seller profile. These are sellers who have submitted ID and been manually verified by our team. Phone-verified sellers are also marked separately. Either way, follow our safety guidelines: meet in public, never pay in advance, and check vaccination records.

Pet passports & QR codes

What is a digital pet passport?
Every pet on PetCenter gets a free, permanent digital identity — a unique ID and QR code that holds vaccination records, ownership history, breed lineage, and microchip information. If your pet is ever lost, anyone who finds them can scan the QR and contact you instantly.
Do I need to register my pet on PetCenter to use it?
No. The passport is yours to use however you like. Some owners register just to keep a clean digital record of vaccinations and ownership; others use it actively for resale or as proof of identity at vet visits.
Does the QR code work for life?
Yes. Once generated, the QR code remains active for the pet's entire life — even if ownership transfers. We do not expire codes or charge for renewals.

Transferring ownership

How do I transfer my pet to a new owner?
Go to My Pets (or My Listings if it's a listed pet), tap Transfer, enter the recipient's Pakistani mobile number and an optional sale price. They receive an email and an in-app notification; once they accept, ownership moves to their PetCenter account and the passport history is updated.
What if the buyer does not have a PetCenter account yet?
The transfer waits for them. As soon as they sign up using the phone number you entered, the pending transfer appears in their inbox and they can accept it.
Can a transfer be reversed?
Before the recipient accepts, the sender can cancel anytime. Once accepted, the pet legally belongs to the new owner — like a physical handover. The ownership history on the passport keeps a permanent record so there's no dispute later.

Lost & Found

How do I report my pet as lost?
Go to My Pets, find your pet, and tap Report Lost. Fill in where they were last seen, your contact number, an optional reward, and any distinguishing details. Your pet immediately appears on the public Lost & Found page where the community can help.
How will I know if someone has spotted my pet?
Every sighting triggers an instant in-app notification (the bell icon in the navbar) and a branded email with the location, notes, and the reporter's contact if they shared one.
I found a pet — what should I do?
If the pet has a PetCenter QR tag, scan it with your phone camera; you'll get the owner's name and a WhatsApp link. If not, visit petcenter.pk/lost-found, see if any reported pets match, and tap Report Sighting on the relevant card.

Safety & moderation

How are listings moderated?
Every listing goes through four layers of moderation: a profanity filter on the description, a browser-side NSFW check before photos upload, a server-side AI check that confirms the image actually shows a pet, and a post-create classifier that flags suspicious listings for admin review. Listings that fail are hidden until an admin clears them.
What should I do if I see a suspicious listing?
On every pet detail page there's a Report listing button. Choose the appropriate reason (fake photos, stolen pet, scam, etc.). Three reports automatically hide the listing pending admin review.
My listing is "Under review" — why?
Our AI flagged something that needed a human eye — usually a borderline image or an off-topic description. An admin will approve genuine listings within a few hours. You can still see the listing in My Listings; it's just hidden from the public marketplace until approved.
